VA Transport- Supervisor, Road Safety and Compliance

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the incumbent is responsible for administering and managing road safety and driver training for the province of Quebec in accordance with provincial and federal regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure the safety and compliance of the company with transportation safety regulations by;
  • Participate in the improvement and development of current and future driver training programs;
  • Coordinate the implementation of driver training activities by the trainers;
  • Promote the application of and compliance with the company's road safety policies and procedures;
  • Manage accident and claim files (investigations, analyses, recommendations, settlements, training and file prevention with the various stakeholders);
  • Participate in the management of the company's PECVL file with the SAAQ and ensure through appropriate actions (inspections, training, advice, etc.) that the company's PECVL is improved;
  • Implement measures to reduce costs and the number of accidents;
  • Implement measures to reduce fuel consumption;
  • Carry out audits of good road behaviour among drivers;
  • Manage and follow up on driver files;
  • Support and advise the Regional Director, Quebec Operations, in the management of violations (corrective and preventive measures);
  • Verify and digitize the daily driving and rest time records as well as the pre-departure inspection forms of the drivers;
  • Participate, in collaboration with the Human Capital Department, in the hiring process of drivers; ensure that an adequate road test is done to the candidates before any new hiring, including agency personnel;
  • Ensure the qualification of sub-contractors and partners (interlining);
  • Perform all other related duties as per the content of the responsibilities.

Requirements :

  • Relevant experience of 3 to 5 years;
  • Valid Class 1 driver's license, T endorsement and LCV ;
  • Excellent knowledge of the trucking industry and the PECVL;
  • Investigative and analytical skills for accident management; 
  • Analytical skills and synthesis;
  • Judgment and discernment;
  • Very high energy level;
  • Customer focus;
  • Excellent oral communication skills; ability to influence;
  • Ability to write memos, reports, recommendations, etc;
  • Excellent command of computer tools;
  • Bilingualism (oral and written).

Salary: 70K$ - 80K$
